About
Born in Florence, in Italy’s beautiful Tuscany region, Giulia Millanta is an award-winning Indie-Folk singer-songwriter, motivational speaker, and author based in Austin, Texas.
She plays guitar, upright bass, and ukulele, and sings in four languages: English, Italian, Spanish, and French.
Over the course of her career, Giulia has released 10 solo albums and collaborated with acclaimed musicians including Charlie Sexton (Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello), Hunt Sales (David Bowie), Marc Ribot (Tom Waits), Gabriel Rhodes (Willie Nelson, Billy Joe Shaver), Glenn Fukunaga, Dony Wynn (Robert Palmer), Joel Guzman (Paul Simon), and David Pulkingham (Patty Griffin, Robert Plant).
She has toured extensively throughout the US, the UK, and Europe, sharing stages with artists such as 10,000 Maniacs, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Mary Gauthier, and Spooner Oldham.
Giulia was selected for an Official Showcase at Folk Alliance International 2022 in Kansas City. Her music has charted in the Top 50 on the Folk Alliance International Folk Chart, as well as on the Roots Music Report’s Contemporary Folk and Texas Airplay charts.
As an author, Millanta has published three books: Between the Strings, Dinner with Giulia – Flavors, Songs and Stories of a Florentine Troubadour, and Fratture (published in Italian and soon to be released in English).
Her latest album, To the Bone (2026), was born as a reaction to a world dominated by AI, overproduction, and polished perfection. Instead of following the current, Giulia returned to the roots: raw, intimate, vulnerable songs recorded live in her Austin studio with just one microphone, her voice, and her Gibson “Penelope.”
Featuring 11 songs available nowhere else — including four brand-new unreleased tracks — To the Bone will not be available on streaming platforms. The only way to experience the album is through the CD or digital download.
